Born in 1973 in France.
Lives in Uganda.
Vanessa Moulin is half British, half French,
she grew up in New Caledonia, a small Pacific island.
She has lived and worked in Australia for more than 10 years
and has spent the last 20 years on the African continent.
She graduated from the Sydney Design Institute
(Event and Entertainment Design) and has worked as
a set designer for various shows, as well as a freelance
graphic designer in Australia, France and Congo, designing
in performing arts, advertising as well as corporate.
In 2012, she undertook a personal project, a series of portraits
of women using photography and Acrylic paint.
From then on, she created different series, finding a certain
beauty in forgotten corners of urban scapes.
Over time, Vanessa shifted her focus to raw elements found in these
corners, like earth, rock, and sand. Rendered in distinct textures and
blown out of proportion, these natural substances became her
language of expression—powerful visual symbols that bridge the
physical world with the neural landscape of our inner consciousness
She uses photography, acrylic paint, stencil prints, silk printing, collage.
